Service (some highlights)ACS Environmental Faculty Fellow. As an ACS faculty fellow, it is my pleasure to coordinate environmental initiatives on campus. Since I took over as fellow in 2004, my students and I have resurrected the college's recycling program, have hosted numerous speakers, celebrated Earth Day with stuff swaps, raptor programs, and green fairs, raised funds toward the purchase of a solar array on campus, and much more. If you'd like to get involved in the Centenary Environmental Association or the Wilderness Club, I'd love to hear from you. Ecology, Technology, Culture. As part of the newly designed curriculum for Centenary's Environment and Society Minor, Ecology, Technology, Culture is an interdisciplinary course looking at the complex interactions between the material world, society, and techno-science. We read texts from literature, green cultural studies, political science, anthropology, science studies, and much more. Along with the course syllabus <available here> students of the course also contribute to the ETC wiki. Board of Regents Grant for Humanities Computing. In 2006-2007, with the help of the Louisiana Board of Regents, the English Department was able to purchase and install multimedia equipment in several classrooms. This equipment continues to facilitate innovative instruction in the classroom. Mascot. In 2007 I served as part of a committee to add a mascot to Centenary. The winner: the Centenary Catahoula! Go Catahoulas! Diversity. I am part of Centenary's ongoing efforts to increase diversity on campus. So far, the college has participated in an diversity climate assessment, and now continues to implement plans to improve that climate. These plans include training for and development of a summer program for local minority students to improve their chances of attending the college of their dreams despite both real and perceived obstacles. Learning Resources Committee. I currently chair the Learning Resources Committee at Centenary. Over the last 2 years the committee has audited instructional technology at the college and has prepared a comprehensive assessment of the current needs of the college in terms of IT resources, and instructional technology.
