This is my judgement of the Dodds excerpt.
I think that the claims of Dodds are well within the context of the play.
I also think that the claims are right in real life. As the people in the
play are either consumed or subsumed by their Dionysiac sides, so are we
in the non-literary world. Too many people repress their desires until
it is too late. This should not happen but society always seems to warp
people whether ancient Greek or modern American.
