I find it hard to think of religion. When most people say religion they mean their or any other well-known faith. Satanism, Christianity (in any denomination), Buddhism, Taoism, Atheism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Islam, Judaism, Jainism, Scientology, Cults are all religions.
How many make sense?
Not many.
Does mine?
No, of course not.
I was raised a Methodist; my main ideals were the 10 commandments and anything that you thought in your heart should be.
Pretty easy, huh?
I agree. But it is also high maintenance.
…
Okay, it isn't or at least wasn't to me. I just don't want to be too pathetic to you out there.
You've got to admit it is a pretty sweet setup.
But I've abandoned it.
…
That's right; I'm not kidding.
I still believe in doing right, I haven't sold my soul or anything, and I think Jesus is a good standup guy.
I just don't follow most of the ideas.
I think God is whatever God chooses to be, as a matter of fact I think God is all Gods, even the obscure or supposedly mortal ones.
I think if you try to do your best to do good and don't unintentionally hurt too many people, you will go to the paradise you seek. I know that in some cases the views of good are warped and in that case you go to the punishment you expect. I do not think a good Christian will end up in Valhalla except if they want to or there is a filing problem at wherever they direct souls. Nor would a bad Christian end up in the Hell of Drowned Sinners that is one of the many Chinese hells except under the circumstances mentioned above.
As a slight exception though, I think that being kind and polite is more important than being good. Yes this is odd. If the evil villain is torturing the good guy he is being impolite, thus should die and burn in hell ;). If however he just imprisons him with plenty of food, water, and comfortable living the villain is doing the world good. This may not be enough to outweigh the fact that the good guy was trying to stop him from destroying the world and the villain is really going to.
I also believe that justice is a good principle to keep in mind. The ends don't always justify the means.
You should not subsume yourself into a faith, religion, or god. If the Creator had wanted to control you he would not have given you independent thought. You should live as a separate entity.
No matter what you do you are furthering the Divine Plan(whatever form it may take). This means that some of the world's greatest evils have been used and (possibly) planned by God. This does not mean God wants them to happen. God just knows that they will happen and incorporates them.
Thank you for reading this. Try not to be too judgmental of me in this. It is not the greatest argument or explanation of faith ever made.
I am sure that a theologian could poke many holes in it. I am also sure you can see parts of it you think are wrong or misplaced.
This is okay
This is all personal and part of my own outlook. It is formed from myth, legend, tales, stories, superstitions, and random facts.
You should not look to it as a guide.
You should make your own.
