1) Assign students the task of completing a questionnaire in such a manner that produces certain patterns of results.  For example, have students complete the same questionnaire 3 times:

• Once producing 2 main effects, but no interaction
• Once producing no main effects, but a significant interaction
• Once producing 1 meaningful main effect, and a significant interaction

2)  Have students develop short vignettes describing Danny, a high school student at a local school.  As part of the vignettes, have students vary Danny's socioeconomic position and school involvement.  The vignettes can be inserted in the HTML just like photographs are.  This provides an opportunity for students to work on operationalization of variables and crossed designs.
